Composition:
Each film coated capsule contains:
Rabeprazole 20mg, Domperidone 30mg

RABEPRAZOLE:

It belongs to the class of antisecretory compounds, the substituted benzimidazoles, that suppress gastric acid secretion by the specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell and hence are called proton pump blockers.

Indications of RABEPRAZOLE:

Rabeprazole is indicated for the treatment of active duodenal ulcer. Active benign gastric ulcer. Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). H.Pylori-positive duodenal ulcers, as part of the eradication programme with appropriate antibiotics, maintenance treatment of healed erosive or ulcerative GORD. Efficacy has not been demonstrated for periods exceeding 12 months.

Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity, Pregnancy and lactation.

Special Precautions:
Gastric or oesophageal malignancy should be excluded prior to commencing treatment with rabeprazole.

Side Effects:
Headache, diarrhoea and nausea, rhinitis, abdominal pain, asthenia, flatulence, pharyngitis, vomiting, non-specific pain/back pain,, dizziness, flu syndrome, infection, cough, constipation and insomnia.

Drug Interactions:
Co-administration of rebeprazole sodium results in a 33% decrease in ketoconazole levels and a 22% increase in trough digoxin levels in normal subjects.

DOMPERIDONE:

A potent dopamine antagonist with antiemetic properties. It is useful in the treatmnt of nausea, vomiting and dyspepsia. It increases lower oesophageal sphincter pressure, antral and duodenal contractions, gastric emptying of liquids and semi-solids, and shortens the stationary phase for solids in the stomach.

Indications of DOMPERIDONE:

Symptomatic relief of acute nausea & vomiting.Gastric motility disorders such as reflux oesophagitis & duodenogastric dyspeptic symptoms.

Contra-Indications:
Pregnancy.

Special Precautions:
Concomitant administration of anti-cholinergic drugs may compromise beneficial effects of dopamine. Paediatrics: Reduced dose necessary. Pregnancy: Safety not established. Lactation: Present in breast milk. Elderly: No special problems.

Side Effects:
Serum prolactin level may rise resulting in galactorrhoea in females & les frequently gynaecomastia in males.

Drug Interactions:
Reduces asorption of oral digoxin. Increases absorption of aspirin,paracetamol & oral diazepam.Effects antagonised by anticholinergic agents.EnhancesCNSdepression by phenothiazine.
