When Situations Become
Uncontrolled

Composition:
Each film coated tablet contains:
Levocetirizine 5mg, Montelukast 10mg

LEVOCETIRIZINE:

It is a selective, long acting peripheral H1 receptor antagonist antihistamine. The increased polarity of Levocetrizine may decrease distribution of the drug into the CNS, resulting in reduced potential for adverse CNS effects. Tolerance doesnot occur. As it does not readily cross the blood brain barrier, it does not cause sedation or interfere with mental alertness or memory function.

Indications of LEVOCETIRIZINE:

Seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, ocular symptom (redness, lacrimation and itching), chronic idiopathic urticaria, urticaria dermographism, atopic eczema and contact dermatitis, also in acute allergic reactions due to drugs, food and insect bites.

Contra-Indications:
In severe renal impairment.

Special Precautions:
Patients intending to drive/operate machinery or ingage in potentially hazardons activities should be warned not to take more than the recommended dose. Concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressant may cause reduction in alertness and impairment of performance. To be used cautionsly in pregnancy lactation and children below 6 years of age.

Side Effects:
Although well tolerated some effects are headache, somnolence, dry mouth, mild drowsiness and G.I. disturbances

Drug Interactions:
Rate of absorption is reduced with food. Alcohol and CNS depressants may potentiate CNS side effects in sensitive patients.

MONTELUKAST:

It is a competitive leukotriene antagonist. It binds with high affinity to the LTD4 receptor, inhibiting bronchoconstriction. Cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are important proinflammatory mediators in asthama and also they have been correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma, including airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, which contribute to the signs and symptoms of asthma. They also play an important role in aspirin induced asthma.

Indications of MONTELUKAST:

Montelukast is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma in adults and pediatric patients 6years of age and older.

Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity, Pregnancy and lactation.

Special Precautions:
Montelukast is not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks, including status asthamaticus. Montelukast should not be abruptly substitued for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Patients with known aspirin sensitivity should continue avoidance of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

Side Effects:
Headache, rash, dyspepsia, dizziness, and abdominal pain, diarrhea, sinusitis, and otitis media.
