Composition:
Each film coated capsule contains:
Rabeprazole 20mg SR, Levosulpiride 75mg SR
RABEPRAZOLE:
It belongs to the class of antisecretory compounds, the substituted benzimidazoles, that suppress gastric acid secretion by the specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell and hence are called proton pump blockers.
Indications of RABEPRAZOLE:
Rabeprazole is indicated for the treatment of active duodenal ulcer. Active benign gastric ulcer. Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). H.Pylori-positive duodenal ulcers, as part of the eradication programme with appropriate antibiotics, maintenance treatment of healed erosive or ulcerative GORD. Efficacy has not been demonstrated for periods exceeding 12 months.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity, Pregnancy and lactation.
Special Precautions:
Gastric or oesophageal malignancy should be excluded prior to commencing treatment with rabeprazole.
Side Effects:
Headache, diarrhoea and nausea, rhinitis, abdominal pain, asthenia, flatulence, pharyngitis, vomiting, non-specific pain/back pain,, dizziness, flu syndrome, infection, cough, constipation and insomnia.
Drug Interactions:
Co-administration of rebeprazole sodium results in a 33% decrease in ketoconazole levels and a 22% increase in trough digoxin levels in normal subjects.
LEVOSULPIRIDE:
It is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic which is reported to be a selective antagonist of central dopamine (D-2, D-3 & D-4) receptors, also have mood elevating properties.
Indications of LEVOSULPIRIDE:
Anxiety, depression, psychoses such as schizophrenia, vertigo & Peptic ulcerations.
Contra-Indications:
Hyperprolactinaemia, Hypersensitivity to any component of product, pheochromocytoma.
Special Precautions:
Patients receiving antihypertensive, hypnotic & analgesic drugs, because concurrent use may increase the effects of these drug.
Side Effects:
Symptomative adverse reactions produced by Levosulpiride are more or loss tderable & if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include sedation, hypotension, gynecomastia, galactorrhea, dyskinesia, hyperprolactinemia, Tardive dyskinesia.
Drug Interactions:
Alcohol, guanethidine, metoclopramide (Hcl). These interaction are sometimes beneficial & sometimes may pose threats to life.
